Panda Unexpressed is a virtual space that promotes visual literacy and stimulates cultural reconciliation and reflexivity.
Through decoding visual representations of Chinese food and foodways in the U.S. and China, the website traces a series of visible and hidden cultural transactions—the missing histories, the malleable narratives, and the perpetuated stereotypes. It also includes several Chinese food-related projects that encourage a more complex understanding of visual, culinary, and social issues pertaining to Chinese cuisine and foodways.
